What are Impact Photographics Mini Building Blocks?

In October 2022, my husband and I went on a trip that included a stop in Bar Harbor, Maine. While walking around the downtown area, we found several stores with LEGO or nanoblock style kits with mini bricks. I picked up as many of the kits as I could, not realizing that there was a line with more kits.

A few weeks later, I learned they are for sale at America’s National Parks online store in the toys category (store here). Finding out the kits were available online lead me to figure out who produced the kits and discover even more stores online to order them.

The kits are produced and distributed by Impact Photographics, so I’ve named them Impact Photographics to classify them. Kits can not be purchased directly from their website.

What kind of kits are there?

There are a lot of animals. There are a lot of North American animals, but there are also International animals.

There are also things related to national parks, such as park rangers and camping sites.

There is a collection of historical figures such as George Washington. Most of the historical figures are from American history.

One thing to unique to Impact Photographics is the destinations series. This line includes a lot of sites across America, including memorials around Washington DC and several lighthouses all over the country.

Pricing

Kits range from about $8 to $20. The smaller animals are normally $8 to $12, depending on the store. The larger kits for things such as landmarks are normally closer to $20.

Where to buy

  • I’ve found them at shops around National Parks
  • America’s National Parks online store in the toys category (here)

Pros

  • Decent quality bricks that generally hold together well
  • Plenty of extra bricks. No way I could build a second copy of the set, but there is at least one spare of each brick

Cons

  • All bricks come in 1 bag, so I need to take time to sort them out when I start, or it takes forever to find a brick.
  • There are odd coloring printing and outlining for the sections built off the main build and connected after completion. This sometimes includes arrows covering what the bricks are supposed to be, making building much harder
  • Sadly though the bricks claim to be the same size, they are not compatible with the nanoblock pad or tweezers. In fact, the tweezers can damage the bricks if you aren’t careful
